Cody Stadler grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and was fortunate to know he always wanted to be an architect. Though an avid golfer as a teen with scholarship opportunities, he decided to put athletics aside for his undergraduate years at UNC Charlotte to focus solely on architecture school. Once in graduate school, he took up running, cycling, and swimming and competed in triathlons alongside completing his masters degree at the University of Minnesota. His love for golf and triathlon have evolved and endured with his growing family and his dedication to the field of architecture.
Over the first decade of his career, Cody worked on a diverse set of projects including grocery stores, museums, K-12 schools, train stations and single family residences. The only kind of building Cody hasn’t worked on extensively has been hospitals, though he did help bring to completion Emory University’s Winship Cancer Center while a project manager at Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill.
Notable projects from this period of Cody’s career include the following:
Architecture Firm - Little Diversified Architectural Consulting and Gensler
Role on the project - Concept design through completion, client management, and roll out of a construction program of 50 stores in the Mid-Atlantic
Architecture Firm - Shalom Baranes Associates
Role on the project - Historic renovation, combination of multiple properties to a single parcel, project management and design and client management
Architecture Firm - Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill
Role on the project - Renovation of historic train station with a redevelopment of two office towers above, project management, client management, and public leadership
Cody’s mission is to communicate efficiently and thoughtfully to contribute meaningful structures within the built environment. A job opportunity brought him to the DC area in 2018, and he has since called Alexandria, Virginia home.
In the fall of 2020, cycling friends asked for his opinion on a kitchen renovation project. Cody lent his expertise and stadlerdesign began. Since then, Cody has grown his design firm to include residential and commercial projects and has completed over twenty projects with another twenty in progress. His designs honor the lifestyles of his clients and character of a neighborhood. He doesn’t work within specific style parameters and is most interested in the needs and preferences of his clients. Cody is also happy to talk about his beloved Chicago White Sox if the opportunity ever presents itself.
Cody and his wife Katie live in Alexandria and have one daughter, Violet (3) whose vivid imagination keeps them on their toes. Their family also includes two exceptional dogs, Rembrandt (10) and Waffles (6) who enjoy excursions to Mount Vernon and the Custard Shack.
